Description

The Original Jackass Rig™ was reintroduced for Galco International’s 30th Anniversary. Galco’s predecessor, "The Famous Jackass Leather Company," first introduced this shoulder system in 1970. It features a horizontal holster that can be adjusted to a more diagonal carry position than our Miami Classic or MCII, attaching to the harness with our swivel connectors.

The ammo carrier has a streamlined yet secure design, while the Premium Center Cut Steerhide™ harness provides unparalleled concealment opportunities, greater adjustment and comfort. All four points of the center cut steerhide harness can pivot independently and are connected by our unique clover-shaped Flexalon™ swivel back plate, which is a Galco trademark.

The Jackass Rig includes holster, harness, ammo carrier and a set of harness fasteners. The Jackass Rig is fully modular. Optional accessories and components may be purchased separately, including commonly-used items like tie-downs.

Made for semiautomatic pistols, the two-tone Jackass Rig is available in right and left hand draw in black holster/ammo carrier finish and contrasting tan harness.

Harness fits chests to 56".

Review for JACKASS RIG SHOULDER SYSTEM

Hardware change, hopefully for the better
I guess I'm dating myself. My previous Jackass Shoulder Rig was secured with Chicago fasteners. The current system has plastic snaps which insert into slots. It took a few minutes for my stuck in its ways brain to adjust but they work fine. My Glock 20 SF is secured by a strap around the back of the slide. It seems to be secure, but I hope it doesn't loosen with time. My 1911 Jackass Shoulder Rig is over 20 years old and is still going strong. I do wish the magazine off side had provisions to attack an inverted sheath knife and flashlight. My habit is to leave the whole assembly hanging over the cloths rack in my bathroom at night but in the safe during the day. I'd like a place for all the essentials. I easily rate all Galco products 5 out of 5.

Fits great, easy to adjust. Makes carrying my Kimber 5in 10mm a pleasure. Very concealable under even a light shirt. I have 6 Galco holsters and their quality is second to none.

Review for JACKASS RIG SHOULDER SYSTEM
(5.0 out of 5)
Glad I Spent the Money
I CC a Glock 21 gen 4. I've tried various inexpensive holsters and I couldn't find one that struck the balance between comfort, durability, and concealment. I decided to try this shoulder system even though it seems like the vast majority of people use IWB holsters for CC. If you CC a bigger gun I highly recommend this system. It holsters the weapon at a canted angle which prevents it from printing on your shirt. The leather and fasteners on this system are fantastic and everything feels good - no chaffing or jagged pieces anywhere. It's really important that you read the instructions and assemble this system correctly. It took me a few days of use before I found my final, perfect adjustments and trimmed the excess leather. DO NOT rush that process - wear it for a few days because it's likely you will cycle through different adjustments.

This is the best system for anyone who doesn't mind wearing an over-shirt (flannel, button up, etc.) and it works perfectly under a suit jacket. The only hesitation I had about this shoulder holster was the price. It took me a couple days to feel comfortable buying it. My concern was, at this price point, even if the holster was good it wasn't worth the money. Wow was I wrong. I'd recommend this system - even at this price - to anyone in a heartbeat. If you're committed to concealed carry, I think it's better to spend the money now and set this system up correctly than it is to buy several less expensive holsters which compromise on either comfort, durability, or concealment. If you go cheap and use a CC system which isn't ideal then you're inevitably going to CC less often, and you don't want to encounter a situation where you wish your gun and didn't. As an additional note: I don't use the tie downs because I'm too tall. If you're 6'0 or taller with a proportionate torso I don't think the tie downs will work for you. It's not a huge concern because if you set the adjustments properly your weapon won't be swinging around unless you're doing crossfit or running obstacle courses.
