Description

The Original Jackass Rig™ was reintroduced for Galco International’s 30th Anniversary. Galco’s predecessor, "The Famous Jackass Leather Company," first introduced this shoulder system in 1970. It features a horizontal holster that can be adjusted to a more diagonal carry position than our Miami Classic or MCII, attaching to the harness with our swivel connectors.

The ammo carrier has a streamlined yet secure design, while the Premium Center Cut Steerhide™ harness provides unparalleled concealment opportunities, greater adjustment and comfort. All four points of the center cut steerhide harness can pivot independently and are connected by our unique clover-shaped Flexalon™ swivel back plate, which is a Galco trademark.

The Jackass Rig includes holster, harness, ammo carrier and a set of harness fasteners. The Jackass Rig is fully modular. Optional accessories and components may be purchased separately, including commonly-used items like tie-downs.

Made for semiautomatic pistols, the two-tone Jackass Rig is available in right and left hand draw in black holster/ammo carrier finish and contrasting tan harness.

Harness fits chests to 56".

Jackass Shoulder Rig
Fit and finish are excellent. The leather shoulder straps are not as wide as others I’ve seen but seem to function as designed. The holster is constructed for an extremely tight fit but I used a baggie as the instructions directed and worked the pistol into the holster. It’s still a tight fit but the leather will eventually stretch. I bought the Jackass because the description stated that the angle of the holster is the best for larger pistols. I also ended up ordering the Tie Downs to secure the holster close to the body to avoid printing when bending over and running. I’m still breaking in the holster.

Best I’ve used
So far it’s the best I’ve used for a full size 1911. DONT cut the straps to fit though mine took a few weeks of wearing to get it right where I wanted it.

Love the Jackass
I have tried several different and less expensive shoulder rigs before spending the money on the Galco rig. It's so much more comfortable than the other rigs that I'm kicking myself for not buying this one first. I am not a big person, but the ability to carry my gun at an angle keeps it from printing. As another poster noted, the fit for the gun is very snug and take a bit to break it in.
