Vertical 4.0 for Sig, just what I was hoping
Though I have a good appendix setup, I was wanting to use my favorite: a full-size Sig p226 for carry. Given my narrow proportions, other carry options just weren't comfortable. Plus, standing with appendix, and the "ultimate conceal" is fine, but getting up and down, leaning over is always a bit more problematic in appendix. Also, accessibility in a car, since the seat belt rides on appendix is problematic. So I wanted to "bite the bullet" and try a shoulder harness. Given I am tall and narrow, I didn't think Classic would work well, but I saw Galco's Vertical. So much more comfortable for getting up, sitting, no issue with seat belts, etc. As an added bonus, the tie-downs function as mini-suspenders, so I am resetting my pants/belt much less often (did ??I mention I have a narrow build?). Obviously, one does need a jacket of some sort to conceal, of course, and don't expect to be able to look as slim as Pierce Brosnan 007 tuxedos (where DOES he conceal that Walther???)... but I'm very pleased with function, and with the comfort.
My only quibble is that I expected the back cross-piece fastener to be a more substantial brass. However, since it is not load-bearing, I suspect it was an
engineering decision... flexibility of the plastic piece may avoid something that would stick in your back while sitting. Since all of the leather and other parts are as solid as you might expect, I am trusting Galco designers on this minor point.
The holster itself is very snug, but exits nicely as needed. I was kinda hoping that my other Sig might work as well, but it doesn't, because it has a rail of a different shape. This is, of course, is also a design decision, and given the primary purpose of protecting our Law Enforcement from losing their weapon in a scuffle, I am again bowing to the engineers. It does mean, however, that you shouldn't expect the holster to fit anything that Galco doesn't certify.
