After decades of success with the original Combat Master, Galco unveils the Combat Master™ 2.0, bringing the traditional pancake holster in line with modern EDC preferences.
A professional-grade belt holster hand-molded by Galco’s experienced craftsmen to fit specific handguns, the updated 2.0 design is cut to accommodate most carry-style optics while working equally well with iron-sighted pistols. The optic cutaway also allows the pistol to clear leather even faster, and promotes a smoother, faster draw for shorter-waisted users.
The raised sweat guard protects the wearer’s body from the pistol, and the pistol from the body’s natural perspiration.
Detailed hand-molding gives it excellent retention properties along with a beautiful appearance. But beauty is only skin-deep, especially in a holster designed for concealment. The Combat Master 2.0’s traditional high-riding pancake-style design places the belt slots on either side of the holster, pulling the handgun tight to the body and making defensive handguns disappear.
It features an open top with firing grip accessibility for speed, since time is often in short supply in defensive situations. Premium steerhide construction with double-stitched seams enhance durability, making the Combat Master 2.0 one of the longest-lasting leather holsters money can buy.
The Combat Master 2.0’s twin belt slots enhance comfort by distributing the handgun’s weight and fit belts up to 1 ¾” wide.

Thanks for the review, Jason. We think this actually deserves a little lesson on history and holster mechanics.
Pistol-mounted WMLs were first introduced in 1985 by Laser Products, which later became Surefire. These early WMLs were for 1911s, the most popular fighting pistol at that time. However, it wasn't until the late 1990s that WMLs really began to gain popularity on handguns, as size decreased and lumens/candela increased.
Here's the thing, though. The Combat Master name, as used by Galco on holsters, pre-dates 1985 and even the early WMLs. When we first used the Combat Master name, there were no practical WMLs in any kind of wide use, so it wasn't even a consideration.
On the more practical side, it's next to impossible to create a true pancake-style leather holster with an open top (e.g., the Combat Master) that fits and adequately retains a pistol with the popular WMLs. For that purpose, we simply need to look at designs other than the traditional pancake.
We recognize the value of WMLs, and that many gun carriers (though very far from all) choose to mount them on their carry pistols. While we don't offer Combat Masters for WMLs, we do offer holsters for them, including our Halo, Stinger and others.
