Description
After decades of production, the Royal Guard has been improved based on Galco’s experience and market feedback over many years.
Constructed of premium horsehide, the Royal Guard™ 2.0 has the rough side of the leather out for greater stability in the pants, while the smooth side of the leather lies against the handgun for a slicker draw feel. The butt-forward cant increases concealability when worn behind the strong hip, while the addition of a raised sweat guard protects both the handgun and the gun carrier. The new black-colored metal-reinforced mouth allows easy one-handed return to the holster. The Royal Guard 2.0 is supplied with removable black belt loops fitting belts up to 1 3/4”, with optional tan and black 1 1/4”, 1 1/2", and 1 3/4" belt loops available. All these features combine to make a truly professional-grade IWB holster.
The improved Royal Guard 2.0 is offered for right hand draw, in two-tone color scheme using a natural holster body with a black collar and belt loops.

Kydex options tend to poke and pinch, Hybrid holsters have more bulk, This holster is 'Just Right'. Do yourself a favor, this holster might cost a little more, but it's cheaper than trying several other options, and you'll probably end up here anyway, so just start here. The cant is perfect, in the even you need to draw it is very natural to give that slight forward lean when drawing. It's also hard to even tell it's there. I do like the loops a little more than the clips on some of the hybrid options I have used.
All of that said, I do think that this holster prints a slight amount more than my favorite hybrid with clips and a concealment claw. The printing seems to be from 2 things, the holster is slightly thicker, because it's heavier duty. This is a difference I'm willing to accept, because I kept breaking the kydex on my hybrids. The loops also slightly print compared to clips, however clips tend to chew up shirts over time, and the loops likely will NOT do that. Again a small difference that I can completely accept.
The printing I notice with this holster does NOT provide a dead giveaway of WHAT is there, only that SOMETHING might be there. This is also easily overcome with either slightly looser clothing, or adding an overshirt.
The comfort is a HUGE win, and the fact that I don't have to worry about breaking Kydex anymore.
