The pistol that won two world wars – or at least was in the holsters of the American soldiers who did. Some call it the 1911, but those in the know remember its common appellation for generations: Ol’ Slabsides.

After 113 years of the pistol, and nearly five decades making shoulder holsters for it, Galco has perfected the horizontal shoulder system for the 1911. And there was only one name for it: Slabslide Perfection™. The first shoulder system in our Masterbilt™ series of best-quality holsters, Slabside Perfection continues the Masterbilt tradition.

Slabside Perfection features detailed hand-molding for a beautiful appearance. The smooth leather lining provides increased tactile feedback on the draw while easing wear on more-delicate handgun finishes. The refinement of leather lining is not only practical – it also enhances the overall look and feel of a hand-crafted premium holster.

Designed specifically for Slabside Perfection, the retention strap features a new thumb break that uses a multi-curved and scalloped polymer release to guide the thumb perfectly into the draw position. This allows the fastest, most ergonomic release of the retention strap and the smoothest draw.

The new thumb break also utilizes Galco’s patent-pending thumb-safety deactivation block that engages when the pistol is holstered with the retention strap snapped.

The positioning of the holster’s swivel keepers hearkens back to Galco’s original Jackass designs, allowing a muzzle up/butt down position to increase concealment with the big 1911. Unique to the Slabside Perfection, the holster may be adjusted by the user from a true horizontal to a diagonal. The horizontal positioning works best for users with deep chests and/or shorter-barreled pistols, while the diagonal helps smaller individuals conceal longer-barreled handguns. The angled open-front horizontal magazine carrier presents two spares ready for very fast reloads.

The full-grain leather harness incorporates Galco’s durable Flexalon swivel plate, a Galco trademark, which allows each of the four straps to move independently for comfort. The straps measure 2.5” wide at the shoulders, bringing the greatest comfort – especially with heavy, steel-framed 1911 pistols. The provided tie-downs increase stability, especially when wearing the system components slightly lower, and are preferred by many users.

And while Slabside Perfection is perfectly suited to traditional, iron-sighted 1911s, we’ve also modernized it by making it compatible with most carry-style red dot optics. This brings it in line with EDC pistols here in the 21^st century.
