Description
The renowned Yaqui Slide was ushered into the modern era of holster design in 1992 when Galco achieved yet another industry first: adding a set of independent tension screw adjustments, allowing for a custom fit to the firearm and micro-adjustment of the draw stroke.

The minimalist design and near-vertical carry angle make the Yaqui Slide very fast to draw from, while securing the firearm during everyday activity. The belt channel on most Yaquis has a circular cut-out for placement on the pant loop to prevent shifting of the holster.

The open-muzzle Yaqui design is a favorite of those who own multiple barrel lengths of the same gun model. Constructed of premium steerhide, the Yaqui Slide fits belts up to 1 3/4".

Made for semiautomatic pistols and double-action revolvers, the Yaqui Slide is made in right or left hand designs and is available in tan or black finish.

Fantastic holster
Like many who have concealed carried for years, I have the required old box under the gun table full of holsters....a King's ransom in holsters...from the basic holster to the holster that requires a doctorate in anatomy and engineering to put together and use. Holsters made from virtually every kind of material imaginable...natural and man-made. Some never worked right. Some fit OK but not perfectly. Some were good for certain seasons or certain types of clothing...but not for others. I finally decided to go back to a simple, basic holster in leather....one that would fit any outfit, any season and just about any size weapon. It had to be practical, comfortable, versatile, affordable and easy to maintain. Like most folks, I carry a variety of weapons...mostly 1911's. But they range from a tiny Springfield Armory 3" barrel micro compact to a hulking Rock Island Armory 5" barrel double stack monster that, with the huge handle and mag well, can feel like a boat anchor if not properly holstered. The Yaqui holster met every one of my criteria...it was simple in design, elegant in its material and construction, versatile enough for the two radically different sizes of carry weapons and even dealt with the eternal "belt loop" problem in a very simple but effective modification to the holster. It took a short while for me to get used to the "high carry" this holster provides. It was much higher than my other leather holster attached to my belt. It can make it a little bit more difficult to keep a huge handgun from imprinting on your clothing, but, once you get the hang of it and try a few variations in your clothing, it soon becomes unnoticeable. I had to practice a bit to get used to drawing from the higher position, but once I got used to it, I found I really liked the higher draw height and with the common sense adjustments in tension I can really customize this holster easily. It is a bit on the pricey side, but certainly not unreasonable given the quality it contains. Hell, if I can find someone to buy my huge box of old holsters, I can probably afford another 1911 and a couple of more Yaqui holsters. This one is definitely worth the investment if you want to return to simple, hardy, understated elegance and a great all around holster.
