As stated, the fit and finish of this Galco pocket holster are, without question, excellent. Where I experienced an issue—and one that I think is worth mentioning for anyone considering this holster—is sweat transfer.

If you pocket carry, particularly in warm weather, you’re undoubtedly going to sweat. If your concealed-carry firearm does not have a highly corrosion-resistant finish, be prepared for perspiration to transfer through the holster and reach the firearm. In my case, that was enough to cause surface rust on my Colt New Agent the same day.

That leaves me with a couple of options: switch to a stainless or more corrosion-resistant carry gun, or use a different holster design that provides a better moisture barrier between the body and the firearm. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a stainless Colt New Agent, which is what I specifically purchased this holster to carry. I may ultimately have the slide hard-chromed if I want to continue using this holster with my preferred CCW.

Interestingly, I have used other Galco pocket holsters with my Glocks and have never experienced the same degree of finish deterioration. Obviously, the Glock finish itself is considerably more resistant to perspiration and corrosion, but that comparison illustrates something buyers should consider: the holster may be excellent, but its suitability can depend heavily on the finish of the firearm you intend to carry in it.

Overall, this is a very well-made holster. My concern isn’t with Galco’s workmanship; it’s that the holster provides less protection from perspiration than I expected. If you’re carrying a blued or otherwise corrosion-sensitive firearm, that’s something worth knowing before purchasing.

Corrosion on carry guns is much less common than it used to be, largely because finishes have become so much tougher. It's useful to go back and review the "old rules" for carry guns, if we're talking about guns with less robust finishes:

1. Remove the gun from the holster at the end of the day and wipe it down thoroughly with an oily rag.
2. Never store the gun in the holster, even overnight. This is especially important if the holster gets wet.
3. Allow perspiration-soaked holsters to dry naturally before using them again.
4. Consider having two identical holsters and alternating them (much like we used to do with dress shoes, when men still commonly wore them).

It's still possible for a gun to show corrosion, even following these rules. This is especially the case for gun carriers with particularly high pH content in their sweat.

The Pocket Protector's Center Cut Steerhide material is also more porous than that of our Front Pocket Horsehide holster, which may be a better solution for guns with more-delicate finishes or users with high-pH sweat.

My dog says it gets 2 thumbs up and it tasted quite good. Unfortunately I didn’t put it in a drawer and one of my dogs got a hold of it, but for the couple of days I had it before that happened it fit my weapon very nicely and I was quite pleased with it.

It a good fit for my revolver. Fits well in dress pants, quite tight in jeans.
